Great coffee, delicious home-made cakes, interesting books, charming atmosphere and a dog-friendly place ❤️ it's a must-visit when in Budapest!

Nice place, friendly people, huge collection of books, tasty coffee and tee, famous lemon cake and carrot cake, pleasant atmosphere... Simply, a great place to hide away or meet friends!
You'll think you're in a romantic French film. The bookstore has thousands of foreign-language books and the sun-drenched courtyard is beautiful. Chirping birds, delicious latte, organic tea!
A mixture of a café and a bookstore. The book selection ranges from bestsellers through academic works to rarities dealing with topics such as politics, gender studies, and Jewish studies.
Massolit is a melting pot providing great coffees, foreign books, and fabulous American cookies. It’s pleasant, friendly, and calm, a perfect place for reading and chatting over a cup of coffee.
Massolit is a real melting pot. They serve the Czech Doubleshot with a Krakow brand, foreign books and fabulous American cookies. It’s all pleasant, friendly and calm.

Egy igazi gyöngyszemre találtam a belvárosban, utánozhatatlan hangulatával, kedves nyitott kiszolgálással, remek könyvekkel, csodás sütikkel és kávéval, no és a hihetetlen kerttel.

Stumbled on this cosy little bookstore cafe with a vintage vibe. It is well stocked with English books and a good selection of coffee, tea, cakes and smoothies. Makes me want to extend my stay in Budapest just so I can come back for cake and coffee again! Highly recommend 💝.

From the first step into this cafe, I enjoyed my time so much here! Lot of interesting books and one of the best speciality coffees in Budapest! Loved it!

I used to be a regular there living in the same street. Would spend the most wonderful Saturdays there. You can sit, have coffee, eat cakes, read a book or work on your laptop, either inside among vintage furniture or out in the garden. a
You would also always see someone you knew who happened to come too or meet a new person because you share a table and start talking to each other.

I have been here several times and it has to be one of the cosiest cafes in Budapest. You are left completely undisturbed to read while you enjoy a coffee and a delicious cake. The books are a mix of old and new mainly English language and they have a great selection available for purchase. Great place if you’re by yourself. Don’t be put off if it looks full when you walk in, it is very popular but there is more seating around the back. There are some seats near power points for your computer but not all, but honestly why not just switch off from tech for an hour and enjoy reading a good old fashioned book here ;)

I came to Massolit expecting to have the chance to get a nice book while I enjoy a coffee, but as usual not happen, here you need to buy the books to be able to read it. It doesn’t match with the “Welcome” board that they have outside. Almost not vegan options to have a cake or something good to eat with your coffee. However, the place is cozy, and I have enjoyed a cool coffee! =]

I happened upon this place during a business trip to Budapest. Just a fantastic little bookstore/cafe where you can get a book and a great espresso. As an American this just seemed like a real Bohemian locale.

This was my favourite cafe while I was in Budapest. If you like bookshops/libraries, you'll love it here. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are super nice. Great place to work/study and delicious cakes.

Found this place on Google near where we had lunch. It’s a quaint little cafe cum book store with a simple menu. However, the cortado was great and the lemon tart looked delicious too but we didn’t have any more room to stomach anything after a big lunch. Service was friendly. Would definitely return. If you find it too warm inside, opt to sit outside

We visited here for lunch and it was a great find. As well as eating areas inside there was also a small courtyard garden.
We arrived a bit late for the full selection of lunch options but still
had lovely bagels as well as good coffee and homemade treats.
There was a good selection of both English and Hungarian books, as well as board games and the opportunity to buy some nice stationery.
I would definitely recommend this cafe for a relaxing retreat and good food.

Cozy little café located in the jewish old quarter. We stumbled upon it while on a stroll and we’re so glad that we did. Nice cheesecake and brownie and a great atmosphere. If you’re a book lover this is a place you can’t miss.

One of my favourite places in Budapest - a cosy café/bookshop with a nice hidden garden at the back.
The coffee is really good and the collection of books is extensive with some rare and interesting titles.
Last time I visited there was also a small acoustic set by a female singer songwriter in the corner of the cafe - wonderful atmosphere.

The warm drinks are really nice, the food is okay and the place is really cozy. It makes you feel like you're at home! We've been there to study and have coffee : it was really the perfect place to do so, especially if you like books!
Plus the people working there are very friendly and speak English in case you don't master Hungarian yet!

Cappuccino is 550 Ft and place is so cute! Here people are working on their laptops and some turist are just enjoying this unique atmosphere.

I found this little bookstore/café accidentally on a walk. I needed a coffee desperately after a hangover and poor night's sleep. I entered because it looked cozy and cute from the outside. I was greeted by a polite employee who prepared me a nice cup of coffee which I enjoyed in an old but comfy armchair surrounded by books and beautiful odd furniture that together created a relaxing atmosphere. Pictures don't make justice out of this place.

Cosy atmosphere, excellent cakes and coffee. I got a couple of good books and loved browsing the shelves while chatting

I absolutely love this place. Lots of books in English, great carrot cake and a cute little terrace out back. This is my favorite place to spend some time, read and relax. What an oasis

Cafe with books or books with coffee? No matter this place is cute with old rickety chairs and walls of English language books. Fair prices and a variety of nibbles, I'll return again. BTW, the wifi is weak.

Massolit became my favorite place to start or finish my day during my trip to Budapest. During warm weather, the back patio is an oasis in this otherwise noisy part of town and, on rainy days, the cafe is cozy, with vintage (sometimes broken) furnishings and little nooks in which to hide away. The employees are book lovers and always have good recommendations of Hungarian and Jewish writers, although I do wish they had a larger selection of the former. The coffee is good and the carrot cake is out of this world—truly the best I've ever had. I miss nothing in Budapest more than this wonderful little shop!

I came to this bookstore as a friend's recommendation. It was a rainy and cold day and this place was the perfect spot to sit down and have a cup of coffee and a chocolate brownie. It tasted delicious. The attendant was an attentive young blond guy. You can ask him book recommendations and he'll gladly help.
