Fantasztikus hely. Először itt tapasztalhattam meg a teázás művészetét. Lenyűgöző volt látni, milyen tisztelettel és alázattal készítik elő a vendégeknek a kimagasló minőségű teázás alapanyagait. Magával ragadott, amilyen szeretettel megosztották velem, miként készítsem és fogyasszam el a választott teafüvet, aminek kortyolgatása közben egy picit talán belekóstolhattam a japán kultúra energiájába az mellett, hogy ebben a nyugodt, békés és nem utolsó sorban kényelmes környezetben egy mély és inspiráló, baráti beszélgetésben volt részem. Mintha megállt volna az idő. Köszönöm az élményt, hogy élhettem a jelent. 🙏🍵⛩

Számunkra ünnepi alkalom, amikor ide jövünk, mert megadják a módját a teázásnak, nem csak odalöttyintenek egy kis forralt vizet, hiszen a tea ízét már a víz keménysége és hőmérséklete is befolyásolja, továbbá a hely hangulata is letisztult, emelkedett, mégis kényelmes, békés. Ha valaki nem szereti a zöld teát, akkor még nem ivott jót. Itt rengetegféléből lehet választani. Kezdőknek ajánlom a kedvencem, a matcha lattét (kérhető gabonatejjel is), mert az krémes, izgalmas, nem feltétlen mély víz a legzöldebb zöld teába. A hagyományos japán kerámiákban felszolgált tea csodák szemetgyönyörködtetőek. A desszeretek, falatok is mind a tea körül forognak, ahhoz passzolnak. Van persze kávé is, leginkább matchával. Tea és kerámia szettek is megvásárolhatóak náluk.

Mindig kíváncsi voltam a japán teázási szokásokra. Erre kiváló helynek kínálkozik a Marumoto teaház. Mint “kezdő” kértem az útbaigazítást a választékban. Nagyon szakszerű és készséges tájékoztató után a Oolong teát választottam. Finom, teljesen más mint amihez hozzászoktam..de valódi élmény. Akit vonz az ilyen egzotikum...mindenképpen próbálja ki.

Zavarba ejtően széles teaválaszték Japánból. A kiszolgálás is nagyon részletes, már-már aprólékos. Távol-keleti szokás szerint nem fogadnak el borravalót. Több asztalnál japán vendégek, ismerve a hagyománytiszteletüket ez csak jót jelenthet. Habár hagyományosan étkezni nem lehet, de vannak desszertjeik.

Kíváncsiságból tértem be csupán, és valószínűleg több alkalommal is meg fogok ott fordulni a közeljövőben. A kiszolgálás nagyon udvarias, a kérdésekre adott válasz teljes körű. Nyugalmas és csendes hely, tele szebbnél szebb teakészletekkel. Kényelmes, megfizethető, fantasztikus!

Nyugalom, kedvesség, óriási, minőségi teaválaszték, amiből vásárolni is lehet. Izgalmas teás sütik, fagylalt és édességek. (Egyedül a macaron nem illett e képbe, de úgy látszik ez a mánia ide is elért.) Egyik nagy kedvencem a matcha teából készült limonádé. Régebben rendszeresen jártunk ide hangversenyek után, de egy ideje sajnos 2 órával korábban, este 8-kor bezárnak.

This is a peaceful Japanese tearoom. The staff is very nice and the teas and cakes are very good. It is a pity that it will be shut down by the end of March 2018.

As we had some time until the dinner we just had a cup of matcha tea. The guy was really humble and nice, was ready to share every kind of information. Also he explained some Hungarian phrases to me. He pointed out that as they are closing down in the end of March (!) and all teas, teapots and other equipment for preparing Japanese tea are with 45% discount. I gladly used the opportunity! Matcha latte was delicious and well prepared, unfortunately we had no time to try other delights.

We went to Budapest to do some sightseeing and we were looking for a nice quiet place to take a break. That was when we found marumoto. It's not easy to find a adequate teashop if you're a tea lover. But we were lucky. We had delicious japanese tea. One pot of Hojicha and a pot of Sencha. The staff recommended us some cake for the tea we had chosen. Matcha cake! They had great knowledge of the.

We had a sweet matcha milk and a matcha lemonade, both of which were delicious. The staff were very friendly and professionnal. Took us right back to Japan. Lots of Japanese teas are sold here too.

Tea is fine, nice selection, but the highlight of this tea house is the peaceful relaxing atmosphere which is something rare in otherwise noisy, commercial, touristy downtown Pest.

We visited Marumoto japanese teahouse with my partner. We wanted to try out the macha flawour. It happened that it was not really to our taste, but the preparation was perfect. So the problem was only with us. The workers there are unbeliable kind, friendly and professional! We realised only by the leave that we should not leave any tips, but we did not want to get back to our tables for it... but... one waitress guy run after us with it, and told us that they do not need tips, we should just go back if we liked therr! It was really surprising! It is normal in Japan, but not here! One thing that was really disturbing for me is the music. It was jazzy music. For me it did not fit with the japanese environment. I fid not expect this. But we will still return, because except macha things they offer so much more! We especially liked the taste of the welcome tea!

Discovered this little tea room by chance whilst roaming the streets of Budapest. Fortunately for us it was a short walk away from our hotel (Aria hotel) so I was able to visit more than once during our short stay. Marumoto is a small, cute little tea housewith Japanese décor that offers a selection of Japanese teas and Japanese tea inspired beverages (such as matcha tea hot chocolate) and sweet snacks (I have added sample photos of the menu). It also has a variety of Japanese teas, cakes and honey on sale, which would be ideal as gifts or for personal enjoyment. The staff are really friendly and the environment is clean, comfortable and relaxing. The menu is not exactly cheap but in my opinion the prices are reasonable compared to (or at least no more expensive than) other Japanese shops/ cafes I have been to in the past, particularly those in London. I ordered a glass of cold matcha tea milk and icecream (matcha tea and black sesame flavoured), all of which were delicious - especially the black sesame icecream!!! Seriously, I have discovered a new love and will have to find somewhere closer to home that sells black sesame flavoured ice-cream if that is indeed possible. I am not sure if the flavours would be to everyone's palate but I personally adore matcha flavoured anything and would recommend this place to anyone who likes Japanese tea or tea flavoured things.

I spent one day in Budapest and was actually looking for typical cafes, but then I came across this Japanese tea room and just had to try it, because I'm an avid of Japanese tea. Marumoto is easy to find and decorated really beautifully in a classical, serene Japanese way. The tea room is small and there are no tables for big groups, but I went at 5:00pm and had no problem finding a spot (later people had to wait for a seat though). I ordered the Yuzu set which came with Oolong tea with a slight Yuzu flavour as well as a Yuzu cake - unfortunately, they had run out of Yuzu cake, so they asked if a Hojicha Cheesecake would be OK to. It was more than OK, it was absolutely delicious! The presentation of the set was also lovely, it came on a tray with beautiful Japanese ceramics. The waiter explained how to prepare the tea and how long it had to brew, as you brew every cup freshly with water from a thermos and they can refill the thermos if you want more tea. The tea was excellent. Sitting in this tranquil environment with soft, unobtrusive jazz playing in the background, sipping tea and enjoying the free WiFi, it was such a relaxing break from sightseeing and overall it really felt like taking a break in Japan, because the tea room and the whole experience is very authentic even down to the detail that the staff is very courteous and refuses to accept tips.

I just came from this place and I had to say that the design of this tea shop is very fancy and relaxing... it is a very good experience to stay here with a friend or lover! but that's it. I went with my boyfriend and ordered a hot chocolate matcha, cheesecake matcha and a madeleine... almost 10 euros. Everything was so small! And was not worth it's price, except for the hot chocolate matcha.. it was DELICIOUS. Maybe I will recommend to just order this and leave.

I just loved this place. The last place we visited before we went back to the airport and didn't have a lot of time so we were ever so slightly rushed. A good reason to return to Budapest would be to come here again and relax and try more tea and have one of their delicious sounding desserts. Or perhaps an Afternoon Tea.

Lovely place with authentic atmosphere and great choice of tea and desserts, traditional and modern. Lot of matcha stuff included :) The location is great too, very close to the cathedral. Btw they don't accept tips to respect Japanese tradition.

This place is a real treasure, located in the heart of Budapest. The variety of excellent teas and treats makes me enjoy the visit more and more each time. Attentive staff, calming ambiance and customer friendly menu/seasonal offers make us visit Marumoto again and again!

I have been to this place pretty much every day for the past week to get a coconut milk matcha iced latte. I am OBSESSED! I ate in the other day with some friends and they have beautiful desserts (including a matcha cheesecake), a huge varieties of teas many ways. I absolutely recommend it if you're looking for tea, and especially if you're looking for matcha. Service is a little slow, and dogs aren't allowed, but it's a great place to relax.
