Staff is excellent, innovative dishes on the menu, highly recommend this restaurant. The sommelier can be well trusted on his tailored wine advice.

This was our first taste of Kurtoskalacs and it was delicious. Freshly made and with refreshing ice cream - wonderful!

This used to be one of the best restaurants in Hungary. Unfortunately, it changed owners and rapidly decayed. It closed its doors permanently several years ago. There is a new restaurant in its place today.

Very tasty well presented dishes for all tastes. If it was not a business trip I probably could not afford eating there, so glad I got the invitation from my partners and experienced such food. The service is great, wines sublime.

We have visited this Place twice. First just me and my hubby and second visit was 8 people. Staff is amazing and when 8 people pops up to a restaurant without a reservation. In Mocca they fixed our table in minutes. One of us is vegetarian, and that can be tricky in Budapest. BUT again she got the food she wanted. Food is good and I will defentaly visit this restaurant again. I can recommend Mocca for all occations.

We had the local speciality here on the four days we stayed in Budapest. It is chimney cake or "Kurtoska". It comes in different flavours. I can recommend cinnamon, coconut and chocolate flavours. The cakes are baked in front of you. The coffee is good as well. The staff are lovely.

Just to let readers know that Mokka closed about a year ago. We just found out on a visit to Budapest. Very sad as it was my favourite restaurant there.

Mokka is one of my favourit, unfortunatly I am not so rich to go there very often. (I was only 3 times in the past 10 years). The food is simply GREAT and SO DELICIOUS! If you have money for spend, don't miss it!

No matter what occasion, company or time of the year it is I can always rely on the exquisite dishes and absolutely professional staff of Mokka!!! Best impression made: open on Dec 26th! Thank you!!!

Arrived without a booking and shown to a table near the window. Waited for menu's, wine list. Reasonable wine list and menu is modern Hungarian I guess. Ordered and food came soon enough. Good portion and well presented, tasty dish. No desert taken. Coffee good. Waited ages for the bill. Why?

Came to Budapest without a restaurant booking for New Year's Eve?! and wandered through town in search of a good place to eat without actually having to buy one of those outrageously priced set meals where you have to show up at 8pm to get through a set menu which might not even match your taste by the time the clock strikes midnight. Passed by Mokka coincidentally and liked their offering of both - the set menu and a la carte. The ambience and friendly hosting made us choose the venue in the end. The service inside was refreshing, polite and witty while the food was good. The very surprising factor was the wine list featuring some nice high-end old-world wines but also a good selection of local and regional bottles which were professionally offered through the help of two sommeliers who actually know what they are talking about. We had two Gulyas soups (excellent) and a T-Bone/ Tenderloin as mains which were both overcooked. Creative presentations and thoughtful combinations of ingredients on the plate which all doesn't help in the end because the owner decided that stylish glass plates are a wise investment while the chef can't heat them properly so the entrees arrive as they should - piping hot! The chocolate souffle is again superb and the wine amazing (we had a nice Tokaj from Furmint which can easily match high-end Napa whites because of the similar tasting notes). Later on in the evening the kitchen was overloaded with their a la carte and set-menu choice which we were so thankful for but we didn't mind waiting 45 minutes for our dessert since we had time until the countdown. Having said that, the service remained above average until the end and all in all I would say it was a good meal and service-wise a better experience than you find elsewhere in Budapest. In short - I'd go back also when it is not the last night of the year.

It was not our first choice but doubt we could not have gotten a better Christmas dinner in Budapest. Politie, attentive and friendly service, in tasteful and cozy surroundings. The food was perfectly presented with care and thought to every detail both in regard to the menu's ( 2 different) and the single courses. Very reasonable prices.

Great restaurant, best service of my life - polite, helpful, friendly without being overly so, our waiter really hit the right note. The food was terrific, if a little expensive and there is even a kids' menu. I just wish I knew whether to leave the tip on the table as in France, or in the hand as in Austria...

We came by the restaurant by accident, as it is up a back street. We sat outside and it was warm, but the inside is lovely and we would have been happy to come back for dinner. We had a range of tapas and seafood and if was wonderful and beautifully presented. Best tapas we have ever had. We were offered some Palinka at the end of the meal - apricot and it was heavenly. Well worth a visit, good value, excellent food, beautifully presented, with excellent service

We walked past this restaurant one night after having already eaten close by. We stopped to look at the menu and suitably impressed decided to eat there the following night. We were not disappointed. We sat outside which added to the atmosphere although inside did look lovely too. There were blankets incase we were cold but not needed that night. The waiter was friendly and attentive and despite having a table of famous faces in (it was the F1 weekend) we were never overlooked. We enjoyed watching passers by faces as they realised who was eating there! I chose the set menu which was roughly £30 and absolutely fabulous. The carpaccio of beef was divine. The soup, fish and chocolate pudding all perfect. I would definitely go back and recommend anyone visiting Budapest to eat here too. Great location - lovely vibrant city atmosphere. A great find.

We went there with our two kids who are very picky eaters and even the restaurant is not particulary family- themed, they did everything possible to accomodate us: cooked special food that our kids would eat, brought coloring book with pencils, helped me to bring our stroller inside. They have a lot of interesting items on the menu - the menu booklet itself is about 20 pages thick. The food we chose was great, everyone was so happy! Definately a good choice for a nice evening in Budapest!

I think, they might want to be seen as a trend place but they are not willing to make the necessary efforts to be one. The atmosphere is OK, but the staff could be much more organized and could pay much more attention, instead of talking with each other...

This place was beyond our expectations. From the outside it doesn't look particularly inspiring, but inside is lovely. The food is something else. The food combinations at first may seem a little strange, but they are absolutely spot on. My husband chose the duck breast on chocoalte tagliatelle with raspberry dressing. It was lovely. the chocoalte tagliatelle was really subtle and didn't iverpower the duck. I chose the Chanterelle risotto with grilled goats cheese - divine!! My husband managed dessert and I have to say that the choclate souffle is to die for. There were 4 of us. We had 2 beers, 2 glasses of prosecco, a bottle of red wine, 4 main and 3 desserts and the bill including service charge was about £100. My only complaint is that the wine is a little on the expensive side. We enjoyed this place so much that we went back a second time, and were not disaapointed! We chose different dishes and can recommend the monk fisk and king prawn lasagne and lamb chops. My husband also had a dessert they were trailling to go on their new menu. It was a coconut panacotta with mandarin oranges and came on dry ice. It caused quite a stir when it was delivered to the table and wouldn't have looked out of place in Heston Blumenthal's place. I really can't recommend this place enough. We ate elsewhere and whilst nice they were no wherer near the standard of Mokka. The service was absolutely spot on. The staff were extremely helpful and their English was excellent. they gave us a complimentary glass of palinka at the end of the meal - very nice! Give it a try you will be very pleasantly surprised!!!

we went to celebrate a birthday. The menu card was exciting, so it was hard to choose. Finally the chef helped us out with coming to our table and offering to cook a special "birthday menu" for us. The tapas plate as starter with a glass of nice Hungarian wine just pushed back our first hunger. It continued with the delicious paprica soup, and the absolute top of the night was the seafood risotto they served. We ate the dessert however I never thought I can eat as many food as I did that night, but it would have been a shame to leave it on the plate. We loved the food very much! Thanks!
